The Chief of Police oversees all aspects of the police department. Directly under his command are two captains that carry out the mission of the department under his authority.

The Operations Captain is responsible for the operations of the Patrol Division, Canine Units and Special Response Team. These duties include scheduling and manpower assessments for those divisions, policy development, training, disciplinary actions, investigation management, complaints and purchasing.  Captain Wensel is a 20-year veteran of the police department.

The Special Operations Captain is responsible for operations of the Detective Bureau, CHNT team and the department's information technology system and training division.  These duties include scheduling and manpower assessments for those divisions, policy development, training, disciplinary actions, investigation management, complaints and purchasing.  Captain Hilles is a 27-year veteran of the police department.
