The Alliance Police Department currently employs 37 full-time police officers.  We also employ 2 part time officers and 5 auxiliary (volunteer) officers.

The City of Alliance does NOT allow lateral entry into the police department at this time.

Full-Time Job Benefits:

  • 40 hours employment per week
  • 55 years old age limit at hiring
  • Police Academy Reimbursement
  • $23.81 pay rate and full-time benefit status while attending police academy as cadet if academy needed.
  • Starting wage is currently $23.81 - $29.22 hr
  • Lateral pay consideration based on prior years of service at current department
  • Past drug use or misdemeanor crimes not automatic disqualifiers
  • 1.5 times regular rate for more than 8 hrs in day or 40 hours in week (overtime)

The hiring process consists of the following stages. 

  • Civil Service Examination - written or online only (bonus given for military, college, part-time, basic academy)
  • Background check
  • Interview
  • Medical examination
  • Psychological examination
  • Final Interview
