PRESS RELEASE 01-24-2010 On the evening of Friday, January 22, officers of the Alliance Police Department conducted enforcement details targeting underage drinking in Alliance. These details are a continuation of Operation Last Call, which was launched in October, and is expected to last approx five months. Friday’s details included officers in area alcohol retail businesses, disguised as employees, as part of the Cops In Shops program. Officers also conducted specialized patrols in unmarked vehicles, in areas that have been the subject of citizen complaints of underage drinking. Officers also conducted random patrols, watching for indicators of possible violations, and providing concentrated patrols in those areas. The details Friday evening were conducted by officers assigned to Operation Last Call, as well as officers of the afternoon and midnight shifts. As a result of Friday’s actions, A total of 34 persons were arrested on underage drinking or related offenses in various locations throughout the city. Arrested for Attempting to Purchase Alcohol While Underage was: Wesley Rider II, age 19 of 628 Lilly Rd, Alliance. Rider was arrested after he attempted to purchase alcohol at a business in the 600 Blk of E. State Street. The following persons were charged with Underage Consumption or Possession of Alcohol, unless otherwise noted: In the 1400 Block of S. Arch Ave, the following were arrested: Courtney Rothbauer age 19, of 1972 Clark Ave. Alliance Anna Grubic, age 20, of Strongsville Ohio Rachel Gruber age 19, of Geneva Ohio Holly Fabrizio age 20, of 330 W. Simpson Street, Alliance Lindsay kennedy age 20, of Salem Ohio Arrested in the area of S. Union Ave and Overlook Street were: Zachary Pileski, age 19, of Mattituck, New York Kaitlin Davis age 19, of Southington Ohio Name Removed age 19, of Medina Ohio Brittaney Stone age 20, of Vermillion Ohio Arrested in the 1300 Block of S. Seneca St. were: Lauren Zimmerman age 19, of Amherst Ohio Jack LaForce age 20, of Vermillion Ohio In the 1500 Block of S. Arch Ave, the following were arrested: Shannon Foss age 19, of Massillon Ohio Blake McMillan age 19, of Canton Ohio Nicholas Berbari age 19, of Massillon Ohio Brittany Moulos age 20, of Canton Ohio Angel Burlingame age 19, of North Canton Ohio The following were arrested in the 1400 Block of S. Seneca Ave: Julie Radigan age 20, Olmstead Falls Ohio Krista Roe age 20, of Wauseon Ohio Deanna Glass age 18, of Medina Ohio Brooke Prokasy age 19, of North Royalton Ohio The following were arrested in the 500 Blk of South Street: McKenzie Jones age 18, of Poland Ohio Dieonte Marquis age 19, of Farrell PA Sydney Mihailoff age 18, of Townville PA Tyler Alwardt age 20, of McComb MI Zakary Stanton age 19, of Niles Ohio Mathew Wallace age 18, of Boardman Ohio Chad Rhodes age 20, of Uniontown Ohio Shane Lester age 20, of Dover Ohio A 15 year old Boardman girl was also arrested for Underage Drinking at the South St location. Also arrested at the South St location was 21 year old Dave Sunderman, of 539 South Street, Alliance. Sunderman was charged with Disorderly Conduct after a loud music violation. In the 800 Blk of S. Morgan Ave, a 16 year old Alliance boy was arrested for Underage Drinking and a curfew violation. Also arrested at that location was Kenneth Stovall, age 45. Stovall was charged with Disorderly Conduct after a loud music violation. Officers working the detail were on scene of a disturbance in the lot of an alcohol retailer in the 600 Blk of S. Union Ave. While handling that disturbance, 21 year old Joshua Washington was arrested for driving Under Suspension. All of those arrested were charged and released . All of the adults will appear in Alliance Municipal Court. The two juveniles were released to guardians pending their appearance in Stark County Juvenile Court. Operation Last Call is an ongoing project of the Alliance Police, combining enforcement and education in an attempt to raise awareness and curb underage alcohol use. Since it was launched in October, officers have conducted joint enforcement details with the Ohio Dept of Public Safety, Ohio Investigative Unit, and have been involved with several alcohol awareness programs. Officers have begun the Cops in Shops program, which teams local alcohol retailers and police to halt underage persons from attempting to purchase alcohol. The Cops in Shops program places officers inside businesses, posing as store employees. Operation Last Call will continue with these programs, and in the coming months will include additional educational programs geared toward youth and parents. An educational seminar for retailers to assist them in their efforts to prevent underage sales is scheduled for February 27th. Enforcement efforts will continue with joint details with other agencies and specialized patrols such the one conducted Friday, as well as alcohol sales compliance checks.
