K-9 Nash, a Black and Tan German Shepherd, was born Oct. 13th 2006 in New York City, NY. Nash was born and raised in a Kennel for Police Work. He has a long pedigree of Eastern European Police Dogs. K-9 Nash weighs in at 95lbs.
K-9 Nash started his career at the Alliance Police Department on September 26th, 2008, and is the newest addition to the department K-9 Unit.
K-9 Nash is trained in Narcotic detection, Suspect apprehension, Building searches, Tracking, and Article searches. Just recently Nash completed training in high risk K-9 Tactical tracking with SWAT / SRT teams, High Risk Building Searches with SWAT / SRT Teams, and Air Scent Searching with helicopter deployment, along with High Bulk Narcotic highway interdiction.
The training for K-9s is an ongoing process. The dedication of the handler and the K-9 needs to be above and beyond their normal duties. For police officers the Police K-9 can be the most valuable tool in the field.
Nash retired due to age in October 2014.
